Cape Kid turns her grief into good by becoming and organ donation advocate

Adrianna-Wilson005 Adrianna Wilson is one special little lady! This sweet eight year old, who will starting third grade in September, loves to do many things other eight year olds enjoy: dancing, writing poetry, creating songs, and writing short stories. She loves playing outside with her friends, especially ,softball.

Adrianna excels in school, being accepted into the Gifted and Talented program in her district for the next two years and lights up the stage when she performs with her dance company.

When Adrianna was just six years old, her beloved grandmother passed away after a long battle with cancer. Not three months later, her father passed away, suddenly.  Adrianna and her mother were heart broken. However, this Adrianna-Wilson002little girl turned her grief into good.  She decided, the week before Father’s Day, to honor her father’s memory by become an organ donation advocate.

Adrianna bravely spoke to her class about the importance of organ donation. She expressed how her father had donated his organs to save another person’s life, and that, although she missed him terribly, she knew good came from her loss.

It is Adrianna’s hope to make her organ donation discussion with her school an annual tradition, as a way to continue to honor her father. Her mother, Theresa, stated, “The hope is that it will get bigger every year.”

We applaud this little girl for sharing her story with others and wearing her cape for all.  Well done, Adrianna Wilson. Thank you for being a terrific cape kid and advocating for those in need.
